My last post, as it turns out, was a little bit overly worried for no reason.
For the past few nights, she's been happily drinking milk from her bottle at bedtime! It started last Thursday night. I was out at rehearsal, so Rob gave her the bedtime bottle - which she accepted. Friday was dinner in Scarborough with Rob's family and so she missed her bottle all together. Then Saturday, Rob's mom gave her the bottle and on Sunday it was Rob's turn again (since I was at rehearsal). By Monday night, she was all set! I gave her the bottle and she took it without any problem and didn't even ask for 'other' milk. She seems to be totally fine with this new way of doing things.
And, there's even better news! Since she's been taking milk like this when she goes to bed, she hasn't been waking as much in the night to ask for more food. Certainly, there have been a couple of nights where she wakes up and calls out or cries a bit but she manages to put herself back to sleep fairly quickly. I have to admit though, quick by my standards and by her grandparents' standards might be a bit different.
Admittedly, it's a bit sad to see the end of some of these times with her. Certainly, there are days when I miss having her cuddle with me in my bed. There are going to be days when I miss breastfeeding, I think too. I know, I know, it's crazy talk! I never would have guessed that I'd be nostalgic over waking up in the middle of the night! Overall though, I'm extremely proud and impressed with how well Clare adapts to the changes. I guess I underestimate her ability sometimes, because she often surprises me.
That's our big news for today!
Talk to you soon,
