Overheard - A Series

Overheard 1:
Clare: "Sorry, Boss!"

She says this regularly now. It originally came from an episode of Thomas the Tank Engine. Somehow, she's figured out how to deliver it in just the right circumstance with the appropriate level of sarcasm. It's the delicate understanding of sarcasm that she has already that surprises me most, and yet, should I really be so surprised??

Overheard 2:
Clare: "You've got to be kidding me!"

Another popular phrase around here. Usually following something like "Clare, could you please hurry-up with breakfast, we're running late" or "You can have more meat when you finish what's on your plate".

Overhead 3:
Clare: "Julia, you can be a doctor when you grow-up, if you want"
Me: "That's an interesting idea Clare. Maybe Julia would like to be a doctor. We'll have to wait and see. What do you think you'd like to be when you grow-up?"
Clare: "A field runner."
Me: "Really? What does a field runner do?"
Clare: "She goes like this and then jumps like this and then catches the frisbee. Did you see that Mum? Running like this.. but on the field."
Me: "Well, you know, you could be a field runner AND a doctor when you grow-up, if you want"
