Off to a good start

This week is off to a great start so far.

Yesterday I played ultimate on the beach and it didn't rain at all. It was warm, although a bit blustery. My team won and get this - I caught my very first CALAHAN!!** It was very exciting. I'm pretty sure my defender (who is one of Toronto's top female players) kind of let me have it, but still .. it was real and I caught it!

When I got home from the game, Rob was barbequing me a steak (all the more impressive given that the guy is a vegetarian) that I had started marinating the day before. He'd also prepared rosemary potatoes (baked), grilled eggplant, and baked (en papillote) green peppers, onions, and mushrooms. AND (yes there's more) there was enough leftover for lunch today!

Today, after my fantastic lunch, I went to the chiropractor to get my hip worked on. I've gained a good deal of mobility back and finally feel 'straight' more often than 'crooked'.

Tonight for dinner, I made myself a risotto with green peas and dill and steamed artichokes with garlic lemon butter - which I am currently enjoying imensely. AND there's enough leftover for Rob when he gets home and for lunch tomorrow!

What a great couple of days.

Talk to you soon,

B.

** A Callahan is a when a defensive player intercepts a pass from the offensive players and while so doing catches it in her own end zone of attack, thereby scoring a goal for her own team. It's usually a result of a strong defense (and strong wind?) forcing the offensive to move the play until they are trapped near or in their endzone. It's a rare enough occurrence that it usually only happens to people like Rob, Kevin, or Dion.

nice. i guess this is the counterpart to 'when it rains it pours.'

I don't think I've ever gotten a Callahan... you have to actually play defence for that to happen! I'm too lazy for that, it sounds hard.

You do play defense, Kevin. Just usually as a long, where one can use effort more judiciously, given the proper field awareness, which you have. It helps to play in the cup, as I often do. And I have knocked down no fewer than three discs in the endzone.

Karen, that is an awfully charitable way to put it... I'm not lazy... I just use my energey judiciously!
