Jo's back from Europe! She came to visit me today at work and brought me some European treats. Namely, some French lemon pepper and VERY EXCITINGLY a handful of macaroons. I'm not sure if you guys would remember the kind of macaroons I'm talking about. They aren't the gooey, chocolatey, coconut things that they call macaroons here in North America. They are a sort of a cookie sandwhich of a ganache or buttercream filling between two nut based meringue cookies. They are just perfectly bite-sized and are one of the most delicious things on Earth. Here's an example. I first discovered them when I lived in Zurich. They sell the best ones at the Sprungli store. I even managed to convince Derek to bring some back to me (after an exhorbitant effort on his part) when he visited Zurich a year after I came home. Yummy, yummy, yummy. Last year for Christmas Joanna and I made a big pile of these as our Christmas baking and they were a welcome addition. I think we'll try them again this year.
Oh yes -- and the bear in the picture is a bear I knitted for Jo for her birthday. It's hard to see in the picture but he's wearing a "good luck" amulet. I wanted to show you and Jo kindly sent a photo of him today. It's the Baby Bobbi Bear pattern from Blue Sky Alpacas yarn company but knit with Peruvian Highland wool that I purchased from Elann.
Business as usual otherwise.
Talk to you soon,
B.

I don't remember any of those cookies coming my way at Christmas. What's the deal. The bear turned out great!!! He doesn't look like an alien anymore & your brother will be happy to know that Rob is no longer using it as a voodoo doll. Good job.
