Toddler Bed!

Today, Clare starts in the toddler room at daycare. The transition began last week. She's accepting the change but for now, she's not loving it. Now that she's in the toddler room full-time, she'll be taking naps in a cot instead of a crib. Rob and I thought that this might be a good time to transition Clare to a toddler bed at home as well. Most of our friends and family thought that we were maybe a little bit crazy. Based on our success with Clare not sleeping in a crib while camping a couple of weeks ago and, I dunno, just a gut feeling I guess, we decided to do it anyway.

On Monday, Rob installed a safety gate at the top of the stairs on our third floor and converted Clare's crib to a 'transitional' bed:

She slept in it just fine last night. Though, neither last night when we tucked her in nor this morning when she woke up, did it occur to her that she could get in and out on her own. Even when we called to her from our room this morning, she refused to get out of her bed until we came in to get her. I'm not sure Clare's alert enough in the morning to think straight until after she's had her milk. Kind of like me and my coffee.

Talk to you soon,

B.
