House of Sick

We were down and out for well over two weeks. Clare and I were both really sick. I missed 3 days of work and she missed 4 days of daycare. There was a lost weekend or two in there too. I guess this is just what you deal with when you have a kid in daycare. We just call it 'toddler in daycare syndrome'.

When I talk to the teachers there, it seems like quite a few of the kids have been sick and having trouble recovering. It's only been in the last couple of days that they can see Clare's almost back to her normal self. She's still having some tummy trouble but it's not affecting her the way her cold was.

I'll tell you, it was a quite a challenge. Nobody had much in the way of patience. Clare was sleeping most of the time and when she was awake she whined and wanted to be held. Honestly, it went on for so long that I was worried she was going to permanently develop bad habits (extra tantrums, whining to get what you want).

We're just on the other side of it now though. I've got energy back and so does Clare. She's playing and laughing and trying new things again. She's trying to use more words and is mostly more patient. We've been practicing a lot of "show Mumma what you want" to keep the frustration at bay. I even managed to get her attention a few times mid-freakout to get her to do something constructive that might help me understand what she wants.

All in all, we're practically fully recovered.

More blog posts, emails, and phone calls coming your way!

Talk to you soon,
B.
