It's Friday Again!

Clare doesn’t understand the significance yet but Rob and I are so happy that it's Friday. We can’t wait to have the weekend to spend all together. Thanks to a bit of advance planning on my part (I know, I’m not usually that smart) I kept our calendar pretty clear this weekend so that we could enjoy some relaxing time after such a BIG week.

Yesterday was Clare’s first full day at daycare all by herself and reports back from the caregivers were very positive. Though she still cries when we leave her in the morning, we hear that the tears don’t last long and she’s ready to play with her new friends. Naptime and diaper changes, normally very difficult for Clare, were seamless yesterday. I have to give a lot of credit to the caregivers who were extremely observant of Clare’s preferences and have tried hard to help her feel comfortable. She was even more willing to participate in the group activities yesterday, shaking her booty and bopping along during song and dance time and colouring a butterfly for arts and crafts. I’m told that lunch and snack remain to be Clare’s favorite activities.

When I arrived to collect her at the end of the day, Clare was quietly playing. It took her a second or two to register what was happening when she saw me but as soon as it clicked, I did get a big smile and a wave and she walked over for a hug. As we left, Clare and one of the more social boys in her group, F., waved goodbye and blew kisses to one another. HOW CUTE IS THAT!!! On the way home in the car, Clare babbled all the stories of her day and how it went.

It’s such a relief to see her adapting so well and enjoying the space even if, for now, it’s tough to see Mummy and Daddy go in the morning.

Talk to you soon,

B.
