Clare's Red Egg and Ginger Party

Clare was turned one month old yesterday and so we celebrated her by having a one month party for her. The one month party is a traditional Chinese event that acts as a sort of 'coming out party' for the Mum and baby to meet family and friends. Traditionally, the Mum and baby would have stayed in the house recuperating during that first month. In our case, we had a dinner at Empire Restaurant in Scarborough that was hosted by Clare's MaMa and YeYe. The restaurant provided the red eggs and the ginger and both were delicious. Also on the menu was Crispy Roast Pig, Stuffed Crab Legs, Shark Fin Soup, Scallops with Oysters and Ox tongue, Duck feet with Vegetables and Mushrooms, Lobster in a Ginger sauce, Crispy Chicken, Fried Rice, Fried Noodles, Red Bean Soup, Sesame and Almond Cookies. Clare was great through the entire night. Such a good baby. Unfortunately, we had a diaper accident (entirely Mum's fault) and she had to change into her PJs part way through dinner.
